Since 28 February 2026 Donald Trump has been posturing, threatening, and bombing Iran with abandon. It became a wideranging war of choice which came out of nowhere plunging parts of the Middle East into chaos. Yesterday Trump vowed to wipe the Iranian civilization off the face of the earth for all time. Then today, 7 April, thankfully, he backed down, agreeing to a two week ceasefire, In light of this abrupt aboutface it is hard not to think of the taunt that “Trump Always Chickens Out,” (TACO). What a relief!
A major question is will Trump’s warmongering partner Benjamin Netanyahu honor the ceasefire as well? If not, there is not much hope for the two-week cease-fire which shoulld last until Tuesday, 21 April.
The Supreme Court has given the president carte blanche to do whatever he chooses as long as he is in office, and we cannot rely on the Congress to do its duty, so we have little more than our hopes and prayers that the ceasefire holds. Meanwhile still we must write our senators and representitives and the editors of our newspapers beseeching — no — demanding that the president be stopped and held to account not only regarding this Iranian war. but on the many fronts on which Trump is dismantling our country.
